Sg Solutions

In Leu of the re-design of Pixel Horizon, I have decided to put my latest projects up here rather than add them to the current portfolio.

Sg Solutions is a UK Data Cabling and audio visual Installations company run by a chap called Steve Green. Steve, who recently became self employed, came to me and asked if I could create him a “simple site, nothing special, just to get me started”.

Well….whilst there is nothing wrong with a low maintenance, easy to use and essentially “simple” site, I’m certainly not in business to produce sites that are “nothing special”. So whilst keeping within budget and still aiming to produce a simple clean and easy to use site, I promised Steve that I would create a site that not only worked well but would also reflect the type of business and quality work that Sg Solutions provide.

This was also my first experience with registering a Singapore domain name. After realising that anything even slightly resembling “SG Solutions” had been taken and we had exhausted most hyphenated / abbreviated versions, I came up with the idea of using a dot SG extension. I pitched this to Steve, and he loved the idea.

The registration process for an SG domain name is slightly different than the usual .com/co.uk versions, and usually takes up to 72 hours to become active pending confirmation of eligibility. Within 24 hours though the domain got the green light and SG Solutions now has its own SG domain name. Result!

The Site is powered completely by my favorite CMS, Textpattern and came with accompanying business card.
